Scripting, shooting, editing and engineering the Video

Its quickest to record live, but most times, you already have the song recorded and you lip sync to it and/or put shots of other stuff. Video is a powerful medium, especially when coupled with a strong song that is recorded well. 

You can draft a script, even story board. And its good to have more ideas of shots than you need as some if it likely will not end up working well. And of course you have to have a camera. 

Trust me, you can't go wrong with a good Digital Video Camera. But an analog camera can work just as well. You can use a PC to edit and mix the video and audio into one long clip. You can also use two regular old VCRs. A canon XL-1 or a nice Sony and you're almost in business. Add Adobe Premiere 6 and a stout Mac or PIII  PC or better and you have a digital production company. 

The below video was shot in one day with no script and no help. I played all the parts, was the camera man and the subject. And I had never shot a video before.  The whole clip was made in about a week as a proof of concept for my media company. A few hours every day or so. I learned a lot in the first shoot and my next video will be better, and so on.
